Geography of a woman
This was sent to me by email, and had to share. Between 18 and 22, a woman is like Africa. Half discovered, half wild, fertile and naturally beautiful. Between 23 and 30, a woman is like Europe. Well developed and open to trade, especially for someone of real value. Between 31 and 35, a woman is like Australia, very hot, relaxed and convinced of her own beauty. Between 36 and 40, a...

Back from Tassie....
Here’s a shot of Anne from yesterday’s shoot. Hand made bendy lens, late afternoon, rush hour traffic on Edward St lighting the background. Mum turns 87 today, but was a little pissed that no one sang happy birthday to her at breakfast. New staff, and some sort of typical morning kerfuffle meant that it was overlooked, I guess. She’s using the guest book a lot, and picks it...

Can you hear the music?
Rei and the old record player.  I took in the guest book I made for mum today, so she can write down things that happen, and her visitors can write in it as well. Hopefully she’ll be able to use it to remember those things that are eluding her these days. Bring little photos and things so she can paste them in!

Agreed to go with tardy property manager, hopefully he lives up to expectations! Mum seemed to be happy and is still looking well and getting around without too much trouble. Spoke with AJ today too, hopefully she’ll be able to come up and see mum one day soon. I’m just finishing off putting together the guest book, that I’m hoping everyone will add something to, every...

More time wasted
Mum seemed much more lucid today, remembering things that’d happened on the weekend with much more clarity. She also went out to enjoy some morning tea with the other residents, so hopefully she had a tasty treat with her cuppa. After leaving Mum at the dining room I drove to a hardware store to pick up some copies of keys for Lara St, then went to Sunnybank to meet a property...

Wise words
The Guest House by Rumi This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The...

Let them go.....
After too many weeks reading of the angst over changes to the 1x site I finally decided I’d had enough. Make it public, people, so that there is *BALANCE*! There are clearly hundreds of new and old members who are happy, but they’re not seeing the complaints, or having a chance to point out what they like about it.  I’m interested to know….. Dusty Hill Winery…..where...

After the hail storm
Picked up my car today, exactly a month after leaving it at the panel beaters. it looks very purty! Also picked up a speeding fine…which was in the mailbox…..the little shitbox I’ve been renting CAN do over 50kph, it seems!  60 in a 50 zone….downhill, in a back street of Indooroopilly. Apparently they only place speed cameras in places with a bad crash history….....

Macca Matriarchs Meet
From when Cara was born, I always visited Mum every Thursday, so she could get to know Cara, and subsequently, Ross. This has morphed into the Macca Matriarch’s Meet, where myself, Dee, and Fi get together to give mum an outing, and so she can keep up with the outside world a little. Vanessa and Yen also come along most weeks now. Today we had the pleasure of Peta’s company, and since...

Skype from the nursing home...
Today mum told me, for the third day running, that macca had tried to get Ian and his family on skype, so all the Eu family could have a bit of a chat. It didn’t work, apparently…. Also, for the third day in a row, she mentioned she wasn’t feeling too good. Happy to see the pics of Ben though! Five mins after seeing the pics, she told me that Neal had a new grandchild! ;)  Mum...

Mum says she’s bored with eating hot cross buns, but the same two buns that Fiona gave her last Thursday are still in her fridge. They weighed her last week, and she’s lost 2kgs in the last two months. No symptoms of lymphoma yet, and she’s always happy to have a laugh. She said Andrew visited on the weekend. This afternoon I tried a few more cyanotypes. Still using the hit...

Easter
Dear Diary, Goog Friday was spent playing with chemicals, whilst Scott repaired the wall that Ross put his foot through…. Cyanotype was my dish of the day….quite enjoyed it! Goog Saturday was spent painting gum bichromate over some of the cyanotypes, to see what would happen. Nothing happened….. Meanwhile Scott spent the day helping to move the Mullers into their new home. He...

Beautiful Kimberley cont.....
My previous general musing on the Kimberley is here, and this is a continuation of our fabulous trip with Mieke in Derby and Broome. A subsequent journal is here and the final one is here Daytime in Derby was (for me) HOT at 30°c+ (considering it’s winter), and this image shows the clear blue sky and dried and dusty mudflats. This is classed as “The Dry” as opposed to “The Wet” when everything is...

Beautiful Kimberley
I’m finally coming down from a trip of a lifetime…..to the Kimberley, in the North Western corner of Western Australia. What an amazing place!!! Journal 2 is here Journal 3 is here Journal 4 is here Continually invited to visit over the past two years by Mieke I finally jumped in with both feet and booked a ticket, for myself and for Robyn, (who initially introduced me to Mieke in 2008!)
